My Lush Skin Saviours!

Hey guys! so today I'm writing about my two favourite products from lush: Tea Tree Toner Water and Skin Drink Moisturiser.

Tear Tree Toner Water

Toner is usually a hit or a miss for me; I find that some seriously break me out and some do nothing at all for my skin, both are equally as frustrating. This toner was the first Lush product I ever purchased and it is definitely a worthwhile buy. I love the spray bottle as I usually find that when I put toner on a cotton pad, I pour too much on and end up using a ridiculously excessive amount of product. This spray makes sure I use just enough toner on my skin and it adds that extra hint of freshness. On hot days just spraying this on my face makes me feel a little bit better about life as it takes away the "I am a hot and sweaty mess right now" feeling that usually accompanies that kind of weather. Tea tree is also so good for skin. With skincare, I tend to stay away from brands like Clearasil and go for more natural products such as tea tree and witch hazel, both which are excellent for the skin. If you want use this as a make up remover however, this is not particularly tough on make up, either that or primers and setting sprays have seriously upped their game. This toner offers my skin that extra bit of cleansing when I need it. It also lasts for so long so it justifies the price!

Skin Drink Moisturiser

This is a great little moisturiser. I get pretty bad dry skin at times and this product helps minimise dryness. It somehow manages to be thick but not greasy and sinks into the skin so quickly. Despite being so thick it is light at the same time. It also smells so good too. Only thing I dislike is the tub and would much prefer it in a bottle or tube for hygiene reasons but I can't complain!

Those are my favourites from Lush, what's yours?

HAUL: Bourjois, MUA, B and Versace!

Hey guys! Apologies for the really crappy photo I don't have my camera on me so I've had to use my phone camera. I did a little shopping today after going a fair bit without buying any makeup (I know, right?). I didn't go absolutely crazy but I got a few things I had my eye on and there were some deals as well.

From Bourjois it was a 3 for 2 deal with a free nail polish remover as well. I purchased the BB Bronzing Cream cause I'd had my eye on it for a while and I was curious as to what it was like. I think you're supposed to wear it when you have fake tan on? It smells amazing as well! A new item on the shelves is the Nude Sensation foundation which promises a lightweight and flawless affect which should be interesting. I also picked up the Delice de Poudre Duo which has the bronzer and highlighter in it. It also smells unreal! I really like the highlighter as it's quite light and subtle.

MUA is one of those brands that is soooooo cheap but really good! I got the new Bronze and Sculpt Contour Kit which I'm excited to try. The highlight looks a bit dark but the packaging is very luxe for such a low end brand. I picked up a matte lipstick in the shade Fawn Fancy. It's a gorgeous colour and for just £1 I couldn't pass it up! It has a gorgeous scent and a lip balm on the end as well. Another new item is the matte black liquid eyeliner which looked quite nice. The formula doesn't budge either!

The Makeup Brush Cleanser was on offer and I really need a new brush shampoo so I couldn't say no! I'm yet to try it but I have high hopes.

This is the Versace Man Eau FraƮche fragrance. It's a mans scent but oh my god it is too lovely to stick a gender on! It's so fresh and has a really good staying power as well. I am a big fan of it!

That's all I got guys, I am so excited to try it!

All The Bright Places Review

Hey guys! So today I'm doing a review on a book, totally non beauty related, I know, but I loved this novel so much I had to write about it! So without further ado, here it goes!

If you were expecting to walk away from reading this book totally happy and care free, you're wrong. The books tagline is: "The story of a girl who learns to live from a boy who wants to die" and the aforementioned boy and girl meet on a ledge as they're about to kill themselves. If you are not expecting this to be tinged with tragedy then put the book down and don't look back. It's definitely a tear jerker.

In many ways, All The Bright Places is a generic YA romance novel; you have the misunderstood teen boy, you have the awkward and quiet virginal teen girl, you have the popular people who don't get it and you have the ups and downs of teenage life and typical relationships. However this, for me, didn't feel like a typical love story. It dives so much further than love and explores many important aspects of life.

A particular aspect that the novel deals with is depression. Finch is suffering from depression and feels his world closing in on him. One thing the novel gets really right about the mental illness is that Finch isn't always sad and actually has good days. With depression, people assume that you're always very doom and gloom but Finch is actually a very happy character who is wrestling with some serious demons. It also shows how little things can really affect people as well as small comments can really have Finch feeling low, even if it was something someone else would just shrug off. Niven really managed to perfectly illustrate what it's like to suffer from a mental illness through Finch and how falling in love doesn't automatically cure it. People can sit for days on Tumblr thinking it's so romantic to suffer from a mental illness and if you get a boyfriend or girlfriend it will save you but All The Bright Places crushes that theory which is really important in a way.

Veering away from the sadder topic, the novel centres around the romance between Finch and Violet after they meet on the bell tower. Violet had lost her sister the year before and Finch had a traumatic life himself. Finch manages to talk Violet out of killing herself and they then partner up on a school project which causes some grief from popular Violet's friends as Finch is known as Theodore Freak. However Finch doesn't let that get in the way and relentlessly pursues Violet, at times it's cringe worthy but at other times it's like "why can't someone want me like that?!" and in true young adult romance fashion they fall in love and then there's a tragic twist that makes you throw your book against the wall, curl up in a ball and cry for a week. Naturally.

The book doesn't act like Finch and Violet have never been with anyone else before which is kinda refreshing, there's references to exes and Violet even rekindles a romance with one at some point. In some ways I liked that as so many books focus on the "this is my first kiss, first relationship and this will be forever" but this book didn't even reference a further future with the couple.

I'm not going to lie, I wasn't to keen on the character of Violet at first. She had had tragedy in her life but she was kind of a bitch sometimes and it got a bit frustrating. She was developed so well though and by the end of the novel I had loved how she was developed and really came out of her shell and really figured out what she wanted in life and how she wasn't pining too hard after Finch despite the events. Violet went from the miserable girl to someone so confident and was ready to make something of their future. It was inspiring how she ploughed on with work despite feeling so broken and it contrasted so well with how she was at the start, forever avoiding essays and work due to her extenuating circumstances.

I admit that at times I was a bit like "really?" you know, like how it felt like they JUST got together and then suddenly they were properly in love. But at the same time it's quite honest of relationships. Sometimes you fall hard.

It's definitely a great read and you really feel yourself falling in love with Finch as they're visiting all the interesting places in  Indiana. You spend so much time thinking "Violet why do you not love him yet?!" And it doesn't feel wildly impossible either. It feels very honest and tinged with sadness.

Is it cheesy? A little. Is it funny? At times. Will you cry? So much. Should you read it? Yes!

Definitely pick this book up!
